Like many other companies, LG will be heading to Barcelona next month for the Mobile World Congress 2019. It will be unveiling new devices there and a new report suggests that the rumored 5G LG V50 is going to be unveiled alongside the LG G8 at the event.

LG is now expected to unveil two handsets at its MWC 2019 press conference. The first would be the one that everyone already expects: the LG G8 ThinQ. The other device is said to be a higher-end smartphone with possibly a 5G modem. It could be the LG V50 ThinQ 5G, according to a report out of South Korea.

It makes sense why LG would want to show off a 5G phone at MWC 2019. Many of its rivals will be unveiling 5G smartphones in February. Samsung will kick things off on February 20th with the Galaxy S10. Huawei is coming to MWC with a 5G phone too and so will others. LG obviously doesn’t want to be left out.

The report adds that this handset is going to have a 6 inch display, it will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 platform backed up by vapor-chamber cooling. It may also have a chunky 4,000mAh battery and a 5G modem. It would understandably be available in select markets as releasing a 5G phone in a market where there aren’t any 5G networks doesn’t make any sense. LG’s MWC 2019 event is scheduled for February 24th.
