In 2018, Capcom released the latest installment in the Mega Man franchise with Mega Man 11. The game has received mostly positive reviews and while we don’t have the sales figures, it seems that it might have done well enough for Capcom to pursue a sequel with Mega Man 12, or at least that’s what some are speculating.

According to an interview with 4Gamer (via Getmasu; via Destructoid), the producer of Mega Man Kazuhiro Tsuchiya hinted that 2019 could see the company work on a new Mega Man game. Based on the translation, “In 2018, we were able to safely release Mega Man 11. This is also a thank-you to all of the game fans. In 2019, I would like to make steady preparations for what’s next, so there may not be any major action, but I hope you can all watch over me with warm eyes…!”

It is possible that something could have been lost in the translation, but assuming that it is accurate, it does sound like the company could be developing a new Mega Man title. However the question is, will this be Mega Man 12, a direct sequel to Mega Man 11? Or could it be a new Mega Man X game?

The company had previously released the Mega Man X Legacy Collection indicating that they aren’t quite done with Mega Man X yet, so it is possible that maybe 2019 could see a new Mega Man X game. Either way if you’re a fan, try not to get your hopes up just yet but we’ll keep our eyes peeled for more info.
