Nokia has been quick to roll out the Android 9 Pie update for many of its compatible devices. Having released Pie for the Nokia 8 a couple of weeks ago, the company today confirmed that the Nokia 8 Sirocco is now receiving the much-awaited Android 9 update. Nokia 8 Sirocco is the more premium version of the Nokia 8 from HMD Global, the company that now makes Nokia-branded smartphones.

HMD Global points out in the press release that this is the 8th Nokia smartphone to receive a stable build of the Android Pie update. Some other manufacturers have only been able to release Pie for one or two of their most recent flagship models (looking at you, Samsung).

The Android 9 Pie for the Nokia 8 Sirocco brings a wide variety of new features such as App Actions, Slices, Adaptive Battery, Adaptive Brightness, and a new system navigation user interface. It has a single home button which provides intelligent predictions are suggestions.

Android Pie’s Digital Wellbeing features are included in this update as well. This brings a dashboard to the device which provides detailed information about the screen time and phone usage. Additional information such as how many times the phone has been unlocked in a day is also provided.

Nokia 8 Sirocco’s Android Pie update is rolling out today so it may be a while before all users get it.
