Vizio had confirmed during the Consumer Electronics Show 2019 earlier this month that it will soon add AirPlay 2 support to all of its SmartCast TVs released since 2016. The company has launched a beta of its upcoming SmartCast 3.0 update which brings support for AirPlay 2. Those who have a compatible Vizio smart TV and are based in the United States or Canada can take part in this beta.

Vizio recently confirmed that this feature will be available on its 2016 models as well. When Apple initially published the list of AirPlay 2 compatible TVs, it only mentioned 2017, 2018, and the latest 2019 models from Vizio.

The company later confirmed via Twitter that all 2016 4K UHD Smart Cast TVs will support AirPlay 2 as well. Vizio is actually one of the few companies that’s enabling support for AirPlay 2 on models going so far back.

Those who are interested in signing up for the beta can now do so via vizio.com/apple. Beta testing the update will enable Vizio to weed out any issues and bugs before it rolls out to the public.

As for when it will be rolled out, Vizio has said that the final public release of SmartCast 3.0 is going to take place in the second quarter of 2018. It will come as a free download for all compatible models.
