Several TV manufacturers confirmed at the Consumer Electronics Show 2019 this week in Las Vegas that they will be adding Apple AirPlay 2 support to some of their new TVs soon. Vizio was one of them and it has now confirmed an additional detail which will bring joy to many of its customers. The company has confirmed that all of its SmartCast TVs released since 2016 will not only get support for AirPlay 2 but for HomeKit as well.

When Apple put up a list of AirPlay 2 compatible TVs, it mentioned Vizio models from 2017, 2018, and the models for 2019. No 2016 models were on the list even though they have SmartCast with the same hardware as some of the 2017 models.

Vizio has now set the record straight through Twitter. The official Twitter account for Vizio Support confirmed that “all 2016 4K UHD SmartCast Displays will support the Apple integration.” This means that those who still have one of those TVs will be able to take advantage of this functionality as well.

It’s actually one of the few companies that enabling support for Apple’s platforms going so far back. Samsung is limiting support to the 2018 models while both LG and Sony have confirmed that they will support AirPlay 2 on 2019 models only.
