Apple’s old Mac Pro was designed like a regular PC where you could open the case, remove the components, and upgrade them where necessary. However Apple later introduced a new Mac Pro design which more or less killed off the ability to make any substantial upgrades, something that many power users did not seem to appreciate.

However the good news is that Apple’s upcoming new Mac Pro will see the company return to an older approach where it will apparently be easy to upgrade. This is according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo where in a research note, he mentions how the new Mac Pro will make it easier for users to upgrade its components.

Details of the computer are still unclear at this point in time, but we do know that Apple is working on revamping its Mac Pro lineup. Whether or not this will be the computer that power users have been asking for, or if it will result in another flop remains to be seen. In the meantime Apple has launched the iMac Pro which is an AIO desktop for power users.

So far reviews of the computer are largely positive, save for criticisms regarding its upgradability and also its price tag. Kuo’s note also claims that the new Mac Pro is expected to debut this year alongside a 31.6-inch 6K display.
