Earlier this year, Square Enix released one of their most anticipated titles in the form of Kingdom Hearts 3, but it seems that might not be all that the company has planned for the year. According to Square Enix president Yosuke Matsuda, the company has plans to release a major game later this year.

It is unclear as to what that major game could be given that Square Enix has plenty of franchises under their belts, but if it is a major game, it could be worth looking forward to. Unfortunately for those who might be hoping that this major game could be the Final Fantasy VII Remake, that probably won’t be the case.

The company did mention last year that the game was well in development, but that their focus was on releasing Kingdom Hearts 3 first before moving onto the Final Fantasy VII Remake, and with the game having just been released last month, we doubt that they’ll be shifting gears to Final Fantasy just yet.

Square Enix had previously admitted that they might have announced plans for the remake a bit too early, but they had also wanted to squash the rumors that were floating about. When exactly the game will be released is anyone’s guess, but in the meantime we’ll keep an eye out for the major game that the company has planned for 2019.
