IKEA first launched its smart blinds in Europe earlier this year. It was expected to release them in February but that didn’t happen. The company will now be rolling out the smart blinds in that part of the world in August. The United States will get the smart blinds as well. According to a new report, IKEA’s smart blinds will go on sale in the United States starting October 1st.

Following the recently announced August launch for the Fyrtur smart blinds in Europe, IKEA has confirmed that it will be releasing this product for customers in the United States on October 1st.

The company had originally planned to release them in the country on April 1st. The company has also confirmed that it will only be selling the Fyrtur blackout shades in the United States, not the less opaque Kadrilj that’s also available for customers in Europe.

IKEA had to delay the launch because of a firmware update as it found an opportunity to further improve the functionality on the product. The smart blinds will allow users to control them using the Ikea Trådfri smart home app which will also work with Siri, Alexa, and Google Assistant for voice-enabled control of the blinds.
