It has been rumored quite a few times that Microsoft has been working on a dual-screen Surface device. According to a new report, Microsoft has started showing employees such a device internally. The company reportedly held an internal event where employees were shown the device as a teaser for what’s to come in the future for the Surface lineup.

The rumors had initially pointed at a device which would have been something like a foldable phone. However, The Verge reports that this wasn’t the device that Microsoft showed off to its employees.

The scribe hears that staff formed “long lines” just to get a look at this new device which was apparently a prototype for Centaurus. Earlier rumors have suggested that Centaurus is a dual-screen PC which will be powered by a lightweight version of Windows. It could become the gold standard for dual-screen laptop/tablet hybrids, at least that’s what Microsoft would be hoping.

It may not be long before Microsoft releases this device. The report mentions that the company could release the Centaurus hybrid in the next six months. It would obviously have a different name when it does arrive but will most likely be a part of the Surface brand.
