Actor Robert Downey Jr. is famous for portraying genius inventor and billionaire extraordinaire Tony Stark, also known as Iron Man, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now it seems that he is using his fame to bring awareness to a problem that is affecting all of us: a polluted world, but it looks like the actor might have the answer to that problem.

During Amazon’s Re:Mars conference, Downey Jr. announced the formation of a new organization called the Footprint Coalition. This organization is expected to officially launch in 2020 where its goal is to help clean up the world using nanotech. According to Downey Jr., he believes that with the right technology, we could clean up the planet in 10 years.

Unfortunately, the actor did not share any additional details about the organization and how exactly they would be going about cleaning up the planet, aside from mentioning nanotech, so we’ll just have to wait and see. This is not the first time the actor has shown interest in tech, where together with his wife, Susan Downey, they have been producing a douc-series about AI on YouTube about the kind of impact that the tech is expected to have on our lives.

In the meantime, the website for the Footprint Coalition has gone live but at the moment, it only contains a signup form for people to signup and be notified about future events.
