The future of FX Networks’ standalone streaming service remained in question after Disney’s acquisition of 21st Century Fox was completed. So perhaps it may not come as a surprise to many that Disney has decided to pull the plug on FX+. The service was launched with Comcast back in 2017 and it offered on-demand and ad-free streaming of the network’s shows.
FX+ subscribers could watch the network’s shows like American Horror Story, Sons of Anarchy, The Shield, and others for $6 per month. With the service now slated to be discontinued, the current seasons of FX Networks original shows will be available through FX and FXX linear channels in addition to being available for limited time on-demand viewing in the FXNOW app or through the network’s website.
A notice on the FX+ website confirms that the streaming service will be discontinued on August 21st, 2019. Existing subscribers will, therefore, be able to enjoy their subscription through August 20th.
Those who subscribed to the service don’t need to cancel their FX+ subscription as it will automatically end on the given date. Those who subscribe through their TV provider need not worry as well since the provider will discontinue billing them for the service as well.
