Thanks to streaming technology, we can keep watching our shows or listen to our music on multiple devices, instead of having to store them locally. However, sometimes switching between devices can be a tad inconvenient and inefficient, but that’s something that Spotify is looking to fix.

According to reports, it appears that Spotify is testing out a new feature for its mobile app where users will be able to set their favorite devices. Then when it detects that the device is within range, it will prompt the user to ask them if they wish to continue playback on their favorite device instead.

For example, if you have Spotify playing in your car and you reach home, and if you’ve saved your Bluetooth speaker at home as a favorite device, you will be prompted as to whether or not you wish to transfer music playback to that device. This is versus users having to make the switch manually which can save them a couple of steps.

That being said, this is currently a test so it is unclear how widespread the feature is for all users at the moment, but initial tests conducted by Mehedi Hassan at Thurrott.com has suggested that so far, it seems to be a rather seamless experience, so do keep an eye out for it if it’s something you might be interested in.
