iPhone 4S ReviewThere are some who are debating which is Apple’s best iPhone design to date, and there are a few who consider the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S to be peak Apple design. In case you forgot, the iPhone 4/4S featured a glass front and black with a metal band running around the edge of the phone.

As it turns out, there is a good chance that Apple could be revisiting the design for the 2020 iPhones. This is according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who claims that with next year’s iPhones, Apple could be looking to introduce a metal band around the edge of the phone that would be reminiscent of the iPhone 4.

According to Kuo, “We predict that the new 2H20 iPhone design will change significantly […] The metal frame and the front and rear 2/2.5D glass are still used, but the metal frame surface will be changed to a similar design to the iPhone 4, replacing the current surface design.” However, this new design is expected to be pricey as Kuo predicts that it could increase the costs of the materials involved. We’re not sure if Apple plans on absorbing these costs or if they will be passed down to the customer, so don’t be surprised if next year’s iPhones are even more expensive.

Kuo also seems to believe that these design changes along with the inclusion of 5G could result in an increase in demand for the iPhone, where Apple could ship as many as 85 million units in 2020 versus the 75 million in 2019.
