Square Enix had previously confirmed that Final Fantasy VII Remake will be released in 2020, but in case you didn’t know, the release in 2020 won’t be the full game. Instead, the release in 2020 will only cover Midgar which means that there is still plenty of the game that needs to be worked on.

Square Enix had previously stated that they were still planning on how to handle the rest of the game, and the good news is that according to a recent blog post on the company’s website, it has been revealed that Part 2 of the Final Fantasy VII Remake is already in development, although when exactly it will be released remains to be seen.

According to the post, “We’ve already begun working on the next one as well, but I’m confident that playing through this title will expand your expectations just like the world that extends beyond Midgar.” Hopefully its release won’t take too long, but it seems that there is a chance that when it is released, we could already be looking at next-gen consoles like the PS5, so we’ll just have to wait and see.

In the meantime, Final Fantasy VII Remake is set for a release in March 2020. The game’s director has also suggested that a remake of that scale and quality could also be a possibility for Final Fantasy VIII.
