The notch of the iPhone series has been kind of a sore spot in terms of design. Some have defended Apple’s decision by claiming that you kind of don’t notice the notch’s existence after a while, but the fact that it is still there simply cannot be ignored. However, that could change with the company’s 2021 smartphones.

According to a tweet by Ice Universe, they are claiming that come 2021, Apple’s iPhones could actually get rid of the notch once and for all. The leakster claims that Apple apparently has a soft spot for the notch, but they are also working on trying to get rid of it by developing an under-display camera.

Ice Universe believes that this could potentially result in 2021’s iPhones ditching the notch design for good. The tweet does not seem to believe very strongly that this could happen, but rather they believe it is a possibility. Given that companies like ZTE and Xiaomi have already come up with under-display camera technology, we suppose it’s really only a matter of time before Apple figures it out themselves.

This means that for 2020’s iPhones, the notch will still be very much present. It’s not necessarily the worst design, but it’s not a huge deal and other rumored features coming to the phone could easily offset that.
