When it comes to monitor mounting solutions, everyone has a preference. There are those who are perfectly fine with the stand that their monitors come with, but for others, they might prefer an arm so that it leaves more space on their desks, and depending on how many monitors you’re using, you might have multiple arms or mounts.

The problem with this, at least as far as Apple is concerned, is that sometimes these mounts don’t necessarily provide the best symmetry and alignment, which is why according to a discovery by Patently Apple, the company has patented a new monitor stand/mount design, which all things considered is actually rather interesting.

This system, as you can see in the diagram above, shows a mounting system that attempts to keep monitors as aligned as possible. This comes in the form of a rail running horizontally where the monitors are mounted. However, the rail is separated into two pieces, one for each monitor, that would allow users to move the monitors side-to-side or angle it upwards or downwards, but keeping it on the same plane.

Given how much Apple charged for its Pro Display XDR stand, we’d hate to think how much this system could cost if Apple were to make it, but at the same time, we have to admit that it is an interesting idea.
