If there is one thing we can appreciate about smarter cars is that they can receive software updates. This means that over time, your car can gain certain new features that will make driving it more enjoyable. Take for example Tesla, who recently released its promised holiday update.

In the latest update, it appears that Tesla owners will be able to turn their cars into a moving boombox by piping music through the outside speakers. However, it should be noted that this only applies to Tesla car owners who purchased one of the company’s more recent models that come with pedestrian speakers.

According to Tesla, “Turn your car into a boombox and entertain a crowd with your media play when parked. You can als customize the sound that your car makes when you press the horn, drive the car or when your car is moving with Summon. Select an option from the dropdown menu or insert your own USB device and save up to five custom sounds.”

This means that in terms of the number of people who will actually be able to fully benefit from this update, it won’t be that many. It’s a fun little update, although we’re not sure how practical it is, and how annoying it might be, but either way it’s there if you want to take advantage of it.
