The AirPods Pro earbuds were originally released back in 2019. Apple did not make any refreshes in 2020, which means that a successor is probably due this year. In fact, a report from Macotakara claims that the AirPods Pro 2 will be launching soon and that it could actually take place in April 2021.

While the publication does not know if there will be design changes made to the earbuds themselves, they claim that Chinese suppliers have told them that Apple has made changes to the design of the charging case. Its thickness will remain the same, but it will now be 46mm tall and 54mm wide, so we’re not sure what the changes are supposed to mean or indicate.

What’s interesting about this is that we’ve been hearing rumors that Apple is apparently planning an AirPods Pro Lite. This will be a model that sits in between the AirPods and AirPods Pro. The report does not mention anything about the device, so it will be a bit odd if Apple were to release two models at once given that they have since separated the launch of the AirPods and AirPods Pro in the past.

We have also heard rumors from before that Apple will apparently be doing away with the stems in future AirPods models, giving it a smaller and more compact look. We can’t say for sure if this is true, so we’ll have to wait until April 2021 for the details.
