When it comes to updating its apps, Google has actually gotten some flack in the past where some Android users feel that it is a bit unfair that the company actually updates its iOS apps ahead of Android. However, the past month has been a very different story, where the company’s apps have not been updated.

We had previously reported earlier in the month that Google hasn’t updated its iOS apps for a couple of weeks, which is a bit out of character for the company, but fast forward to a month later, there are still no signs of an update.

Many have speculated that this is because as part of Apple’s App Store privacy policy changes, where Apple requires developers to be more transparent about the kind of data and permissions it requires from users, Google has been holding back. This is because Apple had stated that only new apps need to have these privacy labels included in their submission, while existing apps do not unless they are submitting their apps for an update.

Google had previously told TechCrunch back on the 5th of January that they would be updating its apps in the next couple of weeks, but clearly that has not happened since. We are not sure when the company plans on updating its apps since they can’t possibly avoid it forever, so for now, iOS users will just have to make do with the current versions that are available.
