Since 2020, we have been hearing rumors that Apple could be working on a new tracking accessory called the AirTags. The accessory has yet to be launched, even though we heard multiple times throughout 2020 on the various possible dates, but now a tweet from Jon Prosser of Front Page Tech has revealed that the accessory is still on track for a March launch.

Apple typically schedules a few launch events throughout the year, with one in the early part of the year that focuses more on the iPad and sometimes Mac computers. This upcoming event will most likely see the launch of the AirTags as well as the launch of the new iPad Pro, which wasn’t updated since early 2020.

Prosser claims that he hasn’t heard of any further delays and since we’re almost in the middle of February, hopefully this time the rumors do come true. The AirTags will also represent a new accessory from Apple and it will be interesting to see how it fares compared to other tracking accessories like those made by Tile, which have been around for a few years.

Samsung had also launched their own version called the SmartTag alongside their new Galaxy S21 phones, so it seems that Apple is late to the party.
