Back in the day if you were looking for a job, you’d check the classifieds section in a newspaper. While that is still being used, these days there are different ways of finding jobs, and TikTok is hoping that their platform could be used by the younger generation for job discovery, according to a report from Axios.

The report claims that TikTok is working on a new tool for brands and companies to recruit employees through its platform. Given that a lot of the younger generation uses TikTok or has heard about it, it would help companies look for employees in a more “modern” medium. The tool is also said to allow users to upload video resumes which will act more like an elevator pitch.

This will allow potential candidates to give companies a reason why they should be hired and also give them a chance to speak their piece in a non-traditional way. Resumes can sometimes be a little stale, so offering users the opportunity to try and land a job in a more fun and unique way could increase engagement, especially for startups that are trying to recruit the younger generation.

The tool is currently in beta testing with some companies so it isn’t live for everyone just yet, but it sounds like it could be interesting.
