If you’re a fan of EA’s Battlefield series, then you’ll be pleased to learn that the company has since officially announced the next title in the franchise called Battlefield 2042. The game is currently set for a release on the 22nd of October later this year and will be launching on PC as well as current-gen and previous-gen consoles.

This means that if you own the PS4 or Xbox One, don’t worry because you’ll get to play the game as well. However, what’s interesting about Battlefield 2042 is that EA seems to be doing away with some of the features that fans have come to know and expect from these types of games, including campaigns and battle royale mode, neither of which will feature in the game.

Instead, the company will be focusing on massive multiplayer games that consist of up to 128 players in each game, so in a way, it’s almost like a battle royale mode. The game will also come with features like dynamic events in maps, meaning that players can look forward to events that can change their strategy and gameplay, like sandstorms, tornadoes that are destructive, and more. There will also be wingsuits that players can use and leap off skyscrapers.

We expect that despite not having a campaign mode and battle royale mode, it should still prove to be a pretty popular game nonetheless, so mark the date down on your calendar if this is the game you’re looking forward to.
