With iOS 14, Apple finally introduced support for widgets that can be placed on the home screen. This led to many apps taking advantage of this, and it looks like Instagram is planning something for iOS users as well. This is according to developer Alessandro Paluzzi who shared screenshots on his Twitter account.

According to Paluzzi, it seems that this upcoming widget will help users with multiple Instagram accounts. At the moment, Instagram allows users to have multiple accounts and they can switch between them within the app. However, the problem is that if you wanted to switch back, you’d have to go through the whole process again, so jumping back and forth isn’t as seamless as many would have liked.

However, based on the screenshots, this widget would essentially put the accounts within the widgets as tappable icons. While we can’t be 100% sure of how it works, it would suggest that if you wanted to jump to a different account, you’d just have to tap the icon and it would open to that account, making it a few steps shorter than the current method.

It sounds interesting but it’s more geared towards users who have multiple accounts. If you only have one Instagram account, then this might not be for you.
