Microsoft has announced that on the 22nd of September, they will be hosting an event that will see the launch of new hardware. While the company was not explicit in saying what they planned on announcing, the silhouette of the invite seems to suggest new Surface computer products.

However, it should also be noted that the event could see Microsoft unveil the Surface Duo 2 smartphone. The handset was recently spotted on Geekbench where it was packing the new Snapdragon 888 chipset along with 8GB of RAM. This suggests that this is more of a flagship phone than that of the Surface Duo.

The Surface Duo was originally announced in 2019 but it only launched in 2020 while retaining the 2019 specs. It was an odd choice to make and we imagine that it probably did not do Microsoft any favors. It felt like a shame because the Surface Duo was an interesting device, and had it come with updated specs we’re sure it would have been better received.

In any case, the 22nd of September is only a couple of weeks away so it probably won’t be too long until we get all the official details on the products that Microsoft will be announcing.
