While Robinhood has been around for a while and has been a great way for people to start investing, the app really blew up earlier this year when a group of Redditors bought a ton of GameStop stocks, causing the stocks to rise astronomically and seeing the app gain a ton of new investors.
That being said, it appears that Robinhood might have experienced a security breach. This is according to the company themselves who sent out an email to customers on Monday informing them about the breach, where they say that a limited amount of personal information might have been leaked as a result.
According to the company, “We’re writing to let you know on the evening of November 3, 2021 Robinhood experienced a security incident where an unauthorized third party obtained access to a limited amount of personal information for a portion of our customers. Based on our investigation, the attack has been contained. Robinhood promptly informed law enforcement and is continuing to investigate the incident with the help of a leading outside security firm.”
While the company believes nothing else was leaked, it might still be a good idea to keep an eye on your credit cards and other payment cards, as well as make changes to your password just to be safe.
