A woman has recently amazed social media users with her ability to effortlessly create a fabricated hospital bed selfie using the new AI-powered Generative Fill tool in Photoshop. Madeline Salazar, a content creator, showcased how she can manipulate images to “Photoshop my way out of any and every plan” using this innovative feature.

In a widely-viewed TikTok video, which has garnered over 10.4 million views, Salazar disclosed the simplicity of transforming a regular selfie into a digitally altered image of herself lying in a hospital bed, complete with an AI-generated nurse. Her motivation for doing so was to evade helping a friend with their move.

The video, posted earlier this month, begins with Salazar receiving a text message inquiring, “Are you still coming to help me move?” Seizing the opportunity, the New York City-based content creator promptly takes a selfie and opens Photoshop to commence her creative process.

Salazar employs Photoshop’s lasso tool to select the background elements of the original photo, encompassing the bed, pillow, and table. She then enters the term “hospital” into the generative AI fill tool, allowing her to modify her attire in the selfie to a hospital gown. Adding a touch of authenticity, she also alters her hair to appear disheveled.

Continuing her meticulous editing, Salazar utilizes Photoshop’s AI tool to include a “hospital bracelet” on her wrist. To complete the illusion, she adds a smiling woman beside her, dressing her in hospital scrubs and equipping her with a stethoscope to resemble a nurse.

Salazar responds to her friend’s text message with a simple “No :(“ accompanied by the highly convincing photograph of herself lying on the hospital bed.

Social media users were astounded by Salazar’s video and the ease with which she manipulated the image using Photoshop’s AI generative fill tool. Many expressed their newfound skepticism towards photographs, confessing that they would never fully trust what they see again.

Commenting on the video, one user exclaimed, “Everything is a lie. I have no reason to trust anybody ever again.” Another viewer humorously remarked, “You shouldn’t have shown me this, because my boss is about to receive a lot of these.”

Salazar’s demonstration serves as a reminder of the power of AI technology and its potential implications for the authenticity of visual media in the digital age.
