Redmagic has officially confirmed that its upcoming compact Android gaming tablet will be released globally under the name “Redmagic Astra 2.” This announcement aligns the brand with a growing market segment pioneered by devices like Lenovo’s Legion Tab, which popularized smaller form factors of roughly 8 to 9 inches without sacrificing performance.

The preceding model, the original Redmagic Astra, gained industry attention by offering a premium alternative to competitors, distinguished by features such as an OLED display and secure biometric authentication. The impending release of the Astra 2 represents a direct sequel to that device.

For the past several months, Redmagic has been testing a high-performance tablet known in domestic markets as the “Redmagic Gaming Tablet 5 Pro.” While that specific model designation was intended exclusively for the Chinese market, Redmagic’s social media updates have verified that the hardware will be adapted for international consumers under the Astra 2 branding.

Technically, the device is positioned as a high-tier gaming system. It is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor and incorporates an integrated liquid cooling system designed to sustain peak performance during intensive tasks. While the Chinese variant, the Gaming Tablet 5 Pro, is scheduled for launch on June 30, Redmagic has not yet disclosed the exact global release date, region-specific availability, or official pricing tiers for the Astra 2.
