Citroen has officially unveiled the 2 CV Concept at the 2026 Paris Motor Show, brilliantly reimagining its iconic 1948 vehicle as a modern, compact electric car. Measuring just 12.34 ft (3.76 metres) in length, this new electric vehicle is actually shorter than its historic predecessor, prioritizing lightweight construction, affordability, and everyday practicality ahead of a planned production rollout slated for 2028.
The exterior design retains the original car’s beloved rounded proportions, vertical windscreen, and flowing roofline while introducing contemporary updates such as circular LED headlights, retro-inspired 18-inch steel wheels, a vibrant Infra Red bodywork, and a manually retractable fabric roof.

Inside, the cabin features an unconventional cylindrical dashboard structure, an eight-inch square touchscreen adorned with comic-book-inspired graphics, and cheerful yellow tartan upholstery. The interior also incorporates clever, playful touches like a removable front bench seat designed for outdoor picnics, a detachable Radioën portable speaker, a 3D-printed storage basket, and pedal illustrations depicting a hare and a tortoise.

Additionally, the vehicle features independently replaceable bumpers to make repairs easier and a unique collaboration with Michelin to explore digital tire-monitoring technology utilizing vehicle data instead of physical sensors.
Citroen’s revival of the 2 CV successfully bridges automotive heritage with modern electric innovation. We hope to see more iconic revivals like this in the future, hopefully, for other car brands too.
