Facebook Reportedly Signs Exclusive Deal For Splinter Cell And Assassin’s Creed VR Games

Splinter Cell and Assassin’s Creed may be coming to Oculus virtual reality headsets. A new report claims that Facebook has inked an exclusive deal for this purpose. Not a lot of details are available at this point in time about this deal but it appears to be part of a larger push by Facebook to bring some exclusive games to the Oculus VR platform.


Some Oculus Touch Controllers Were Shipped With Hidden Messages

Facebook-owned Oculus has confirmed that “tens of thousands” of its Touch controllers were shipped with hidden messages inscribed on internal components. These messages were only supposed to be easter eggs on internal prototypes but they ended up making their way on non-prototype editions that were shipped to customers.


Facebook Apparently Thought About Buying Unity

Facebook acquired Oculus to make sure that the company became a major player in the rapidly growing virtual reality scene. A new book reveals that not long after that acquisition, the company also thought about making another multi-billion dollar acquisition of Unity to further its VR ambitions. Unity, as some of you will be aware, is a popular game engine that’s used in almost half of all gaming titles.


Oculus Rift S Headset Hinted At In Software Code

It has been a while since the Oculus Rift headset has been refreshed. This is versus headsets like the HTC Vive which has seen several variations launched to date. There were talks about a Rift 2, but as Engadget points out, a report from TechCrunch back in 2018 suggested that the company might be looking to release a lightly-refreshed Rift S headset instead.
