The other day, it was reported that Sony could be considering looking for a buyer for its PlayStation Vue streaming service. It was suggested that the service was not doing as well as Sony had hoped, and that its subscriber count was well behind that of the competition. However, it looks like instead of being sold off, Sony has since decided to shut it down.
Before Apple TV Plus and Disney Plus, Sony had actually arrived to the market with its PlayStation Vue service. In case you’re unfamiliar, the PlayStation Vue is a live TV streaming service which was Sony’s attempt to capture the market that other companies such as Hulu have been operating in.

Cheddar has brought its online-only news channels to a variety of streaming services such as YouTube TV. However, the channels were not available on PlayStation Vue, Sony’s standalone streaming service. It’s rectifying that now and the channels are available for streaming through this service as well.
PlayStation Vue, Sony’s standalone online TV streaming service, has become the first streaming TV provider to be integrated with Apple’s TV app. This means that users of this app on iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV will now be able to browse on-demand and live content from within Apple’s TV app.
Several standalone online TV streaming services have raised prices in recent months and now Sony is following suit for its PlayStation Vue service. The company has confirmed in a blog post that it’s raising the price of PlayStation Vue packages by $5 across the board. All packages will now cost $5 more than they previously did.
Amid mounting competition in the over-the-top TV streaming market, Sony has decided to increase the price of its streaming service called PlayStation Vue. Previously, the cheapest plan cost $30 but not anymore. The new pricing for the service is actually more than most of its competitors.
It was confirmed by AT&T earlier this year that it’s going to soon launch a standalone TV streaming service under the DirecTV brand. The company confirmed recently that the service will be introduced in November and now we have a precise date. AT&T’s DirecTV Now standalone online TV streaming service is going to be unveiled on November 28th.

Starting today, HBO and Cinemax are available for streaming on the PlayStation Vue standalone TV streaming service.
