Recently it was confirmed that Titanfall 3 was not in the works and we’re sure it was a bit of a bummer for fans of the franchise. Instead Respawn decided to release Apex Legends, a Titanfall spinoff with a battle royale theme. However it turns out that Apex Legends won’t be the only Titanfall spinoff we can expect this year.
If you were hoping to see Respawn’s Titanfall 3 arrive anytime soon, you might be disappointed because according to the studio, the game isn’t happening. Speaking to Eurogamer, Respawn producer Drew McCoy told the publication that they are no longer working on it. Instead the company has since released Apex Legends, a free-to-play battle royale game.
Respawn Entertainment’s Titanfall series of video games are published by EA, but otherwise the studio more or less does its own thing. However it looks like Respawn will now be officially brought under the EA umbrella as the publishing giant has announced that they will be acquiring Respawn.
If you’re a fan of the Titanfall franchise, you might be interested to learn that Titanfall will now be playable on your mobile device, or at least in a sense as Titanfall: Assault has since been launched for iOS and Android devices. However unlike the original Titanfall, Assault will be a different game.
If you’re looking forward to accessing more Titanfall 2 content in the future, you’ll be pleased to learn that the folks at Respawn have announced and published their roadmap for future Titanfall 2 DLCs in 2017. As you can see in the image above, there will be more maps added to the game, a new Titan, new Primes, and new Live Fire maps.
If you’ve been meaning to try out the multiplayer component in Titanfall 2 then this is your lucky day. Respawn Entertainment is offering a free Titanfall 2 multiplayer weekend across all platforms that the game is available for. Throughout the entire weekend, players can access the multiplayer component for free and put it through its paces on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC.
Titanfall fans might have been waiting for the Titanfall mobile game that was confirmed many months ago. Titanfall: Frontline was going to be a mobile game based on Respawn’s popular shooter franchise. The developer has now officially confirmed that this Titanfall mobile game has been canceled.
