These days, a lot of laptop makers are starting to transition to using USB-C in their computers. This means that for those of us who own USB-A devices or need to connect displays using HDMI ports, it’s time to start adopting that dongle life. However, VAIO seems to be bucking against the trend.
While Sony might be done with the VAIO brand and have sold it off, the people who bought it certainly aren’t done with it. So far we have seen several VAIO releases but for the most part, they aren’t really something to shout about as in terms of design, they’re pretty standard and its specs are also relatively standard for laptops in today’s day and age.
Vaio’s first Windows 10-powered smartphone was unveiled earlier this year in February. Just in case you weren’t aware, it’s no longer a Sony division, the Japanese giant sold it off quite some time ago. Vaio is still in the business of making PCs and earlier this year it also tried its hand at making a Windows 10-powered smartphone which has finally gone on sale.
It’s no secret that PC sales have suffered massive declines over the past few quarter. Recently three of the biggest PC manufacturers entered into merger discussions to present a united front and plug the declining sales. If an arrangement was reached it would have seen Vaio, Toshiba and Fujitsu join forces, but according to a new report the big three of the PC industry might not merge after all.
It appears that a new PC giant might be in the making. According to a new report three big players in the PC industry are likely to merge and form a true giant in the market. Toshiba, Fujitsu and Vaio, the PC business that Sony spun off, will merge and create a new entity to rival the likes of Lenovo which is undoubtedly one of the biggest PC makers in […]
Last week VAIO announced their first ever Windows 10 Mobile device – the oddly-named Phone Biz. It was announced in Japan and is expected to be made available in the Japanese markets, so the question is will it arrive stateside? The bad news is that it won’t, at least according to a recent tweet by VAIO USA’s Twitter account.
VAIO used to be a name synonymous with Sony and laptops back in the day. Now that Sony has sold it off to another company, VAIO still manufactures laptops, but safe to say that they aren’t quite as popular as they used to be. However that’s not stopping the company because it looks like they have decided to dip their toes in the smartphone market as well.
When you think of laptops, you might think of brands like Lenovo, HP, Dell, or Apple. While brands like Toshiba, Fujitsu, and Vaio were more popular back in the day, it’s pretty obvious that these companies have taken a backseat to the abovementioned brands in today’s market, so much so that a rumor about merging their operations has surfaced.
Last year Sony confirmed that they would be selling off its Vaio computing division. Given that there are so many PC makers in the market, we suppose it makes sense for Sony to not try to spread themselves too thin. Now according to a report from Nikkei (via The Verge), it seems that Toshiba and Fujitsu are considering similar moves as well. The report claims that Toshiba and Fujitsu are both considering […]
The VAIO brand used to belong to Sony until they sold it off. Prior to that, the brand was used for Sony’s series of computers, which is still pretty much what the brand is doing today. However earlier this year the company appeared to dip its toes into the smartphone market with the launch of their first Android smartphone. The device wasn’t particularly impressive but could that change with a newer […]
If you’re in the market for a new Windows 10 tablet, you might be interested to learn that the VAIO Z Canvas 2-in-1 tablet is finally available for pre-order. How much will it cost? It will be priced at $2,199 which is admittedly pretty pricey as far as such devices are concerned, but if you like what you see, why not?For those hearing about the device for the first time, […]
Some of you guys might recall that last year, Sony officially announced that they would be selling off their VAIO PC business. The company was eventually sold to a Japanese investment firm who has since released several VAIO computers since its acquisition, although for the most part its releases have been limited to Japan. For those who wouldn’t mind getting their hands on a VAIO computer, maybe you like what you’ve […]
While Sony might not own the VAIO brand anymore, there are still plenty of VAIO users out there whom Sony still has a responsibility to. In fact it seems that the company is currently advising VAIO PC owners to hold off from updating their computers to Windows 10 which was released towards the end of last month.According to Sony, it is because they are still working on updating the necessary […]
There were talks that VAIO could be thinking about launching a smartphone of their own and this was followed up by an alleged image of the handset’s packaging and its certification in Japan. For those wondering what a VAIO might look like, wonder no more as the company has officially taken the wraps off its first ever smartphone.Dubbed the VAIO Phone, we have to admit that this phone certainly has […]
