The Nintendo Switch has been selling very well, so well that it could potentially beat out the number of units the Wii U sold in its lifetime. That’s according to Nintendo’s latest financials in which they are predicting that they could sell another 10 million Nintendo Switch consoles by this time next year.
One of the more anticipated games that will be released for the Nintendo Switch is Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. At its core this is still Mario Kart 8 that was originally released for the Nintendo Wii U several years ago, but it is expected to feature updated graphics, new game modes, new characters, and more.
At the moment Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is only available on consoles like the Wii U and the Switch. However thanks to the Wii U emulator CEMU, Wii U games have managed to find their way onto the PC albeit in a very unofficial and possibly illegal manner, although there are some upsides to this.
Yesterday it was reported that the production of the Wii U had ended, but given that the information was gleaned from Nintendo’s Japanese website which stated that this was in regards to the Japanese market, it was unclear as to what this meant for the rest of the markets that the Wii U is available in.
With the Nintendo Switch set for a release in the next month or so, we can only imagine that the company will be focusing their efforts and resources on the new console instead of its older model, the Wii U. In fact last year Nintendo confirmed that production for the Wii U will be ending soon, and sure enough that is the case for the Japanese market.
Last November Nintendo confirmed that they will soon be ending the production of the Wii U. Given that the Switch will be the company’s next-gen console, it makes perfect sense that Nintendo would want to phase out its older products (don’t worry the 3DS is here to stay). This is why it also makes sense that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will be the console’s last title.
When Nintendo officially revealed some additional details about the Switch last week, one of those details they revealed was the amount of storage that the console would come with. Unlike the PS4 or Xbox One, the Switch does not pack 500GB or 1TB of native storage. Instead we are looking at 32GB.
It has been confirmed that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will be launched alongside the Nintendo Switch. The game will also be finding its way onto the Wii U, so gamers who don’t plan on upgrading to the Switch will still be able to get in on the action. So the question is, with the difference in hardware, how will the game look?
It was reported recently that Nintendo is going to end production of the Wii U console in a couple of weeks but the company played down the report and said that this wasn’t happening in the near future. The company has now quietly confirmed that it’s really going to cease production of the Wii U in the very near future.
It was reported recently that Nintendo is taking final orders from retailers for the Wii U console which led many to believe that eventually the company is going to cease production. It was even reported yesterday that Nintendo will finally stop production of the Wii U on November 4th but the company has said that this isn’t happening.
With Microsoft offering backwards compatibility with the Xbox One for Xbox 360 games, we’re sure some are wondering if maybe Nintendo had a similar plan for the Nintendo Switch and some of their older consoles. Interestingly enough there is some good and bad news on that front.
Many are wondering what Nintendo has planned for the Wii U once the Nintendo NX is released. After all why would gamers bother with an older console when a newer and potentially better console is available, right? That being said, it seems that Nintendo could be getting ready to slowly phase the Wii U out.
Are you planning on getting your hands on the upcoming Xbox One S? We know, it might seem like a waste to have two consoles at home since you can only play one at a time, but the good news is that it looks like according to a report from DualShockers, GameStop is currently accepting trade-ins, meaning that you can trade-in your old console for the Xbox One S.
The Nintendo Wii was a success, and rightfully so considering how unique it was compared to other consoles of its generation. This is why Nintendo had expected the Wii U, which is basically an improved version of the Wii, to sell just as well. Unfortunately as we all know, the Wii U is considered by many to be a bit of a flop.
