The mobile iteration of its operating system has gradually been fading into oblivion and even Microsoft has been nudging it down that path. The company has now confirmed that it’s shutting down the push notifications service for devices powered by Windows Phone 7.5 and Windows Phone 8.0. Once this happens, those who own these devices will no longer receive push notifications.
Just last month, Microsoft confirmed that it’s going to drop Skype support for Windows Phone 8, 8.1 as well as Android devices powered by version 4.0.3 and below. Even though support will no longer be available on these versions of Windows Phone, Microsoft has revealed till when the apps will continue to work with some limitations and when they will stop working on Windows Phone 8 and Windows Phone 8.1.
Skype has been hard at work transitioning from a peer-to-peer service to a more modern, mobile-friendly cloud service. This has enabled the company to improve features like file sharing and video messaging and to introduce new features like Skype Translator, Skype Bots, and mobile group video calling. These changes mean that Skype can’t keep on supporting some old platforms which is why it has announced that Windows Phone 8 and […]
A few years ago, Microsoft made waves when they announced that Windows Phone 7 users were not eligible to be upgraded to Windows Phone 8. This wasn’t so much a hardware issue but rather a software issue that did not allow the upgrade, and safe to say that many users were angry at Microsoft as it meant that essentially they would have to buy new phones.

Slightly more than a couple of years ago, we did talk about Microsoft jumping aboard the social networking bandwagon with the announcement of Microsoft Socl. Still, the Microsoft Research team did roll out Socl in beta form, which is still alive, and they have now launched the Microsoft Socl app on […]

It launched a WP8 flagship back in late 2012, the Ativ S, and since then has only released two other similar devices, […]

Unfortunately, Instagram is only being released for Windows Phone 8, users on […]
