There have been rumors suggesting that Nintendo could be working on a sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and at E3 2019, the company pretty much confirmed it in a teaser trailer. Unfortunately, not much else is known about the game at this point in time, but now there are rumors suggesting some of its potential features.
Whenever Nintendo releases a Zelda game for their consoles, it’s a big deal because of how big the Zelda franchise is. The good news is that if you thoroughly enjoyed The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, you’ll be very pleased to learn that Nintendo has confirmed that a sequel to the game is in the works.
Last month to everyone’s surprise, Nintendo announced a new Labo kit that basically introduced virtual reality (VR) features to the Switch. Given that the last time Nintendo attempted anything VR was with the Virtual Boy, it did come out of the blue. For those who need more reason to pick up the Labo kit, Nintendo has announced some updates for their existing games.
Nintendo’s Smash Bros. franchise typically features characters from games that are playable on the company’s consoles (typically), which is why when Nintendo announced that Joker from Persona 5 would be a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, many were surprised. It also seemed to hint that Persona 5 could be coming to the Switch.
Earlier this year it was announced that the Nintendo Switch would be getting a new Zelda game in the form of The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening. However it seems that there could be a chance that we could be getting more than just one Zelda game this year because in a post on GameFAQs, there could be another that might be announced soon.
It was previously teased and speculated that The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword would be coming to the Nintendo Switch. However Nintendo later clarified that this wasn’t true, but if you are looking for a new Zelda game to play on the console, then you’ll be pleased to learn that Nintendo has since announced that Link’s Awakening will be coming to the Switch.
Nintendo has a stable of classic franchises that are almost always guaranteed to do well whenever they launch. This is why it doesn’t really come as a surprise to learn that half of Nintendo Switch owners own a copy of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey, and/or Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
Just like smartphone releases, we’ve also seen developers churn out new releases of an existing franchise on an annual basis. For example without fail there has been a new Call of Duty game every year, and it was also more or less the same for Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed franchise, at least until recent times.
It was previously reported that during a The Legend of Zelda concert that the series’ producer Eiji Aonuma had hinted that Skyward Sword could be finding its way onto the Nintendo Switch. For those who were looking forward to playing another Zelda game on the Switch, the bad news is that it is not happening.
With the launch of the Nintendo Switch, the company opted to launch a new Zelda game with the console in the form of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
