It was previously reported that during a The Legend of Zelda concert that the series’ producer Eiji Aonuma had hinted that Skyward Sword could be finding its way onto the Nintendo Switch. For those who were looking forward to playing another Zelda game on the Switch, the bad news is that it is not happening.

According to a report from Eurogamer, it seems that Nintendo has reached out to clarify that Skyward Sword for the Switch is not happening, and that there are no plans to release the game. The statement provided by a Nintendo rep reads, “At this time we have no plans to release The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword on Nintendo Switch.”

It is unclear as to why Aonuma had hinted at it if there were no plans. According to concert goers, Aonuma had gone on stage where he was quoted as saying, “I know what you are thinking, Skyward Sword for Switch, right?” It is possible that Aonuma was making a joke and that it got mistaken for a hint of Skyward Sword’s release, but either way whatever the case is, it seems that there will be no Skyward Sword for the Switch anytime soon.

However we should point out that there have been various job listings in the past that have hinted that Nintendo could be working on a new Zelda game, but if that is indeed happening, it probably won’t be coming anytime soon.
