Record Labels Not Crucial To Apple Tablet?

Bits and pieces of news related to Apple’s Jan 27th event are slowing seeping out, so it looks like the rumors are going to hit fever pitch over the next week. Word is that the record labels have already been briefed about the device, but unfortunately, it was more or a courtesy call rather than the workings of a big business deal. From the rumors, it seems that the tablet will be focusing more on challenging eBook readers, as well as video content, though we’re fairly sure it won’t be a slouch in the music department too. It’s been said that Apple might be looking to sell its music on iTunes are a quality beyond the 256Kbps its currently offering, though details on that are still rather scarce at the moment.
