Most of us are happy when we don’t have work and are unhappy when we have to work. Of course, it’s the other way around for robots. The pi4-workerbot developed by the folks over at Germany’s Fraunhofer Institute does just that, smiling when it’s busy and occupied, but shows a bored expression when it has nothing to do. The pi4-workerbot features fingertip sensitivity and can perform complicated factory assembly jobs with ease. If all these robots are going to be happy when humans give it more work, they’re going to replace us at our jobs sooner rather than later.
