T-Mobile Rocket 3.0After announcing plans to double its 4G speeds back in CES earlier this year, T-Mobile finally delivers.  Starting tomorrow, folks in 55 markets will have access to theoretical download speeds of 42Mbps. While at the moment there aren’t any T-Mobile devices available that support such speeds, we shouldn’t have to wait too long.

On May 25th, T-Mobile’s first 42Mbps capable product will be released – the T-Mobile Rocket 3.0 laptop stick. The wireless USB modem is touted to be able to deliver max download speeds on T-Mobile’s 4G network. The T-Mobile Rocket 3.0 is equipped with built-in T-Mobile Connection Manager software to help monitor and manage monthly data usage because when you’re on 4G, you definitely need to keep an eye out on your usage. If you’re in a non-4G area, the Rocket will look for a 3G or WiFi connection to keep you connected.

In addition to being your gateway to the internet, the T-Mobile Rocket 3.0 has some added features such as the ability to plug in a microSD card to turn it into a flash drive. You can even use it to send and receive text messages in the event your phone is dead and you need to contact your friends. It will work on Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Mac OS X computers. The T-Mobile Rocket 3.0 will have three changeable faceplates: cobalt blue, dark violet and matte black, and will be available tomorrow for $99.99 (after a mail in $50 rebate and with a 2-year contract) or $199.99 without a contract.
