We had reported a couple days ago that there were rumors that this year’s Apple Back To School promotion would be giving away $100 in Mac App Store credit instead of the usual iPod that many Apple customers had gotten accustomed to over the years. We have received many comments regarding this and based on what we’ve read, none of you were too pleased about this. Well it looks like the hammer has just dropped and yes, it turns out those rumors were true and Mac buyers this year will expect to be getting a $100 Mac App Store credit.

This move by Apple will probably upset many buyers as they were hoping for a better deal. In fact buying a new PC lands you an Xbox 360, compare that with a $100 Mac App Store credit we’re pretty sure that those who are on the fence will likely jump over to the PC deal, unless of course they are Mac lovers and don’t really care about the freebie that much. On the bright side that $100 should go a pretty long way in terms of apps that you can download for your new Mac.

Anyway for those who are interested the offer will run from 16th of June 2011 until the 20th of September 2011 and it will eligible to those buying Macs on the Apple education pricing.
