It seems that 9to5 Mac received in their inbox what appears to be a stack of iPhone 4 antennas, with the middle antenna claiming to be the iPhone 4S/5. The top casing belongs to the GSM version of the iPhone 4 thanks to the microSIM card slot. Interestingly the same SIM card slot can be found in the purported iPhone 4S’s antenna.

Now there have been multiple rumors that suggest the next-generation iPhone that Apple will be unveiling will be a refresh of the iPhone 4, perhaps featuring a dual-core A5 processor like the iPad 2, and possibly a new camera. All of this while retaining the current iPhone 4 design.

There have also been rumors that suggest a brand new design iPhone 5 that will stray dramatically from the iPhone 4, and there have also been rumors that claim Apple will launch two new iPhones, one for the budget-conscious consumer and one priced normally. With these purported leaked iPhone 4S antennas, 9to5 Mac is speculating that if Apple were to indeed just release the iPhone 4S this year, having it sport a CDMA antenna with the option to make it GSM capable will indeed turn it into a “world phone” that will work on all carriers.

Given the “death grip” issue that plagued earlier iPhone 4s, going with the improved and tried-and-tested CDMA antenna design makes more sense. Once again, with all rumors it does not hurt to be skeptical. After all these images could have easily been edited to make it look real, although this design seems to tie up the rumors rather neatly all into one tidy little package.
