Apple to block Samsung Galaxy Nexus sales in California

The war rages on, and Apple Inc. has stepped into a place which is extremely close to home (home itself, actually) – California, by asking a federal court there to stop Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. from selling its new Galaxy Nexus smartphones (that hail from Verizon), citing patent violations. This seems to be a song that we have heard of before across the pond, although those lawsuits and injunctions touched more on the iPad 2’s greatest rival to date, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, where Samsung creatively modified said tablet enough to turn it into the Galaxy Tab 10.1N that is now available for sale in Germany.

This new suit which was filed last week in San Jose, California, sees Apple claim that the Samsung Galaxy Nexus has infringed on patents where underlying features such as the ability to unlock phones by sliding an image, as well as locating information by voice, clearly treads on Apple’s territory. Patents are the new ammunition in the world of intellectual property these days, and the long, drawn out legal war between Apple and Samsung does not look like they are going to cease anytime soon.
