When Apple introduced the iPhone 5, they also revealed that the iPhone 3GS would be discontinued and the iPhone 4 8GB would replace it as the “free” version on contract. Unfortunately they also stated that only select carriers would be offering it and it turns out that Sprint might not be one of them. The folk at 9to5 Mac have managed to get their hands on what appears to be an internal screenshot of Sprint’s internal system which has revealed that the carrier will be discontinuing the iPhone 4 on the 21st of September. The screenshot appears to be legit although we guess that anyone with Photoshop will have no trouble throwing something similar together. In any case we guess we will find out if this is true come 21st of September, so for those looking to get the iPhone 4 free on contract, you might have to try your luck at other carriers such as AT&T or Verizon.
