[CES 2013] The Sony Walkman name is synonymous with portable audio devices, with some audiophiles preferring certain Walkman models over more mainstream options like the iPod, but if you’re not really an audiophile and you’re in the market for a portable media player that you can bring with you on your outdoor activities, Sony might have something for you in the form of the Walkman W270, which Sony is marketing as a waterproof device that you can bring to the gym, or even at the pool where you’re lounging at on a hot sunny day with a cold drink in your hand. The Walkman W270 will come with 4GB of memory on board, which while isn’t much compared to other offerings, it should be enough for your gym sessions, unless your MP3s are of extremely high quality, or if you were thinking of making the W270 your main and only MP3 player. The W270 will also boast 8 hours of usage before requiring a charge, and just like other Walkman audio players from Sony, the W270 supports the quick charge feature, allowing users to gain an additional 60 minutes worth of playback by charging it for a mere 3 minutes. Available in a variety of colors, the Sony Walkman W270 will be available come March 2013 and will be priced around $99.99.
