samsung-logoWord on the street has it that Samsung is looking to enter the smart watch market with a device of their own, and last we heard it could be launched alongside the Galaxy Note 3 on the 4th of September, a couple of days prior to IFA 2013. Well thanks to a recent trademark filing, it seems that it is possible that the Samsung smart watch could be going by the moniker of “Galaxy Gear”. This seems to be similar to the other trademark filing for the name “GEAR” a while back, although we’re guessing the Galaxy Gear could be closer to the actual name, and perhaps the GEAR name was filed just to protect their intellectual property.

Given that there’s also a good chance that the watch could be powered by Android, making it part of the “Galaxy” family of Android devices would make perfect sense as well. Either way nothing concrete is known about the device for now, but assuming it will launch alongside the Galaxy Note 3 on the 4th of September, we guess we have less than a month to wait to find out the juicy details!
