If you’re not an Xbox Live Gold subscriber, you’re probably aware that you’re missing out on a ton of content as you aren’t able to play online multiplayer games or watch streaming video services such as Netflix with an Xbox Live Silver account. Spending $50 per year is probably something not a lot of people want to do, especially when Sony offers similar features on its PlayStation Network for the low price of free. This weekend, Microsoft will once again be offering free Xbox Live Gold to all users in supported countries, and yes – the U.S. is one of those countries.

The news of this weekend’s free Xbox Live Gold for all users comes from none other than Major Nelson, although he doesn’t say exactly why Microsoft is deciding this weekend to be the weekend they unlock Xbox Live Gold. Microsoft will be unlocking Xbox Live Gold starting on October 4 through October 6, but no exact times have been revealed, so your guess is as good as ours as to when exactly Xbox Live Gold will be unlocked on these dates.

If you’re an Xbox Live Silver member who lives outside of the U.S., Microsoft has released a full list of regions that will get Xbox Live Gold this weekend:

Regions include: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Egypt, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Malaysia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Philippines, Portugal, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Slovakia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States, Vietnam
