skype-desktopWhile some might call this to be an April Fool’s prank, it apparently isn’t as the person who leaked out what seems to be an update to the Skype client which boasted of a new chat UI for the hugely popular VoIP program. The tipster known as “Marvin” claimed that he was absolutely clueless as to how he received the update, but at the end of the day, the chat interface looks extremely different from what he was used to. Check out the screenshot above and draw your own conclusions – it shows off the Modern UI that is normally found in the Windows 8 version of Skype.

Apart from that, it also seems as though there will be new video and audio icons that are located on the right side of the screen, where the existing Skype client for the desktop do feature such icons on the left hand side of the screen.

In another email, the very same “Marvin” also mentioned that ” the chat pane is now right while making a call, the call background is flatter and the panel shown when Skype is inactive is now grey.” Is this early release a mistake on Microsoft’s part, or is it just an elaborate hoax that has managed to capture the imagination of the masses?
