moto e tweet teaserThe Motorola Moto E is an upcoming handset from Motorola. According to the leaked specifications, the handset appears to be a low-end affair and could even feature lower-end specs compared to the Moto G, another low-end offering from Motorola. Some have speculated that the Moto E could be the successor to the Moto G, but in reality could it be a stepping stone into the world of smartphones?

In a recent tweet by Motorola, the company appears to be teasing their upcoming announcement in which they added a hashtag which reads, #GoodbyeFlipPhone. Now in some parts of the world, there are some who are still relying on feature phones for communication. This is because while there are affordable smartphones, feature phones are still a lot cheaper and more affordable by comparison.

Given the rumored Moto E’s specs, it appears to be slightly smaller and not as powerful as the Moto G, which hints that it could be priced cheaper as well. With a lower price tag, it would make the phone more affordable which could then cater to customers in emerging markets who might not be able to afford smartphones.

Companies like Nokia have attempted to break into similar markets with their Asha-lineup for smartphones, so it looks like Motorola could be coming along and giving them some Android competition. The image that Motorola uploaded also seems to be in line with the renderings of the Moto E that we saw lately, so there is a good chance that the tweet could be in reference to the device.

The Moto E is expected to be announced on the 13th of May which is tomorrow, so do check back with us then for the details!
