Nokia X2 Launch Expected In The Coming Weeks

Even though Nokia made Windows Phone smartphones exclusively for a couple of years now earlier this year it unveiled the first ever Android lineup under the Nokia X moniker. The company’s devices and services division was later acquired by Microsoft which didn’t explicitly say that it would kill the Android lineup straightaway. There have been rumors of a successor lining up and if a recent rumor is true then its possible that the Nokia X2 might be launched in the near future.

A report originating from India suggests that the launch is only three weeks away and that the company may even make the announcement in India. That wouldn’t really be surprising as the target market for these Android powered devices are emerging markets. It was recently reported that a shipment of the test units was also sent to India.

According to previous rumors about the Nokia X2 its going to have a physical home button which didn’t make the cut on the original lineup. It is believed to come with a slightly bigger 4.3-inch WVGA display and a 1.2GHz dualcore Snapdragon 200 processor coupled with 1GB of RAM. 4GB of onboard storage, VGA front camera and a 5 megapixel rear camera are also expected.

The specifications aren’t close to what Motorola offers with the Moto G and the new Moto E. Both are strong contenders in the lower priced segment of the market, which Nokia aimed to crack with the X lineup. It remains to be seen how Microsoft takes that mission forward.
