We no longer have to guess whether or not Apple is going to release a smartwatch as earlier this month the company finally revealed the Apple Watch which marks its first foray in the wearable device market. Even though Apple spent a lot of time talking about its smartwatch at the event on September 9th it didn’t talk much about what’s under the hood which is why we have to look towards the rumor mill once again. Rumor has it that the Apple Watch touts 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory under its display.

This bit of information comes in a research note by Timothy Arcuri, an analyst at Cowen and Company. Arcuri has reached on this conclusion by studying the supply chain and believes that the 512MB DRAM found in the Apple Watch would probably be supplied by Hynix, Micron and Samsung.

As far as internal memory is concerned the analyst believes that Apple may offer an 8GB version as well though it probably won’t be the base model. 4GB internal memory is rumored for the base model which will start from $349.

Even though the Apple Watch has formally been unveiled to the world it won’t hit the market until early 2015. Perhaps by then Apple will have had time to confirm exactly what’s underneath the hood of its first smartwatch.
